The Great Outting of White Nationalists, Racists And Neonazis

We of the Den have tried to stand strong against hate and bigotry for a long time. Many of our postings involve just those issues. But today our nation is experiencing times we have not seen for decades.

On Friday August 11 2017 a group of white nationalists, Neonazis and members of the KKK (for our purposes we will refer to all as the alt right marched in the night with torches similar to how the Nazi Youth marched decades ago towards a church filled with ministers praying. They were met by counter protesters at the statue of Thomas Jefferson holding them back. The members of the alt right screamed Nazi chants as they marched.  “Blood and soil!” “You will not replace us!” “Jews will not replace us!”  They made monkey noises at the black counter protesters and chanted "White Lives Matter."  Shoving and punches began to be thrown. Pepper spray was used and chaos rang in the night. At that time there was only one campus police officer as this portion of events had not been discussed with the authorities.

So began the weekend of hate as on Saturday the alt right protesters were met in force by counter protesters. Many were heavily armed with rifles and other types of firearms. A militia arrived supposedly to "keep the peace". Then the rallygoers broke their permit agreement with the Charlottesville police to use one entrance only and instead came in from all directions. A battle ensued between the two sides and some say the police were slow to act. Ministers prayed to no avail. Some were attacked by members of the alt right.

But that was not the end. Eventually the police ended the rally by declaring it unlawful. The majority of  protesters began to leave. On the street however a diabolical young man, James Alex Fields Jr. had a different idea from leaving quietly. He drove his vehicle into a group of counter protesters  He committed an act of terrorism. Though many refuse to say the words we will. He is a white supremacist terrorist. A young woman named Heather Heyer died because of his actions who had only come to protest against hate. The tragedy was further exacerbated by the crash of the police helicopter monitoring the scene of the rally and the death of it's two occupants. Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Berke M.M Bates perished. It was a dreadful day for Charlottesville VA and our nation.

White supremacists, Neo Nazis and members of the Klu Klux Klan had openly marched in an American city. They had engaged in violence against the clergy and others. They had not hidden their faces for the first time, defiantly showing who they were. Donald Trump spoke on Saturday in what was a shocking speech to the vast majority of Americans. He blamed 'many sides' for the violence which of course is not the truth.

Elected officials and average citizens cried out in protest at his equating of white supremacists and counter protesters who were standing against hate.

Then on Monday he seemed to change tack as many told him how wrong he was and was forced into changing his statement. Even then he refused to call Heather Heyer's death an act of terrorism.

That change however did not last long and on Tuesday he returned to his original viewpoint this time blaming both sides. He referred to violence by the 'alt-left' which does not exist in any form.

As someone who has had a long history of racism from being sued for racial discrimination, his campaign against the Central Park 5 and being the leader of the birther movement he has proven one thing. Add his commentary over Charlottesville there can be no doubt. Donald Trump DOES NOT have the moral authority to lead the United States. By equating white supremacists, neo nazis, and members of the KKK with those counter protesting their presence he has shown his true colors. Donald Trump is a racist and has always been one. He will always be one.

Firing Steve Bannon another white supremacist does not change who he is or what happened at Charlottesville.  So we Americans must take the initiative. There is no place in America in 2017 for the alt right. They are a vicious, malignant collection of groups who are attempting to destroy the accomplishments of decades. We are not a perfect nation and still have a long ways to go to achieve a true egalitarian society. A society where privilege belongs to none by race, creed, sexual preference, faith, wealth or any measure other than courage, ability and strength of character. We were far from there, but taking steps resolutely in that direction. But having Donald Trump and his white supremacist associates in the White House has emboldened them to come forth as though it were once again 1950.

Racism and bigotry are insidious monsters that can not be allowed to fester or grow. The issue however is that they can be anyone or anywhere in our society. They might not always be as vocal as the alt right members. They can be the teacher who only calls on white students. They can be the coach who ignores his minority players and only sends white players to the field. Yes they can be a minister, pastor or priest who holds white supremacist views. Institutional racism still exists in our society where minorities do not have a level playing field. To achieve a just society all of those things must be eliminated.

But in the present we must act to drive back the evil forces that have now come forth so violently to bring our nation back to the past. Though it has existed for a long time the movement gained strength when President Obama first began to run for office. Then Donald Trump brought about an exponential rise in both their numbers and activity. That must be stopped. We must all change our viewpoint on what the Confederacy, slavery and the monuments to Robert E. Lee and other Confederate participants really means. Some want to say their culture is destroyed by the movement of such monuments.

But we say that is not true. Many things have a context in the history of a nation. Some are good and some are bad and even evil. Slavery was a great evil. For every little white girl in a fancy dress running around a plantation playing there was a little black girl dressed in rags being whipped and beaten for not picking in the fields fast enough. Then when the abomination of slavery is abolished, those who monuments were raised for betrayed their country and seceded. They were traitors. That part of our nation's history is not something to emulate or be proud of. Nor was Jim Crow/segregation. Nor was the KKK or any lynching of a minority.

Yet some seek to glorify those times and return us to the days where minorities are considered inferior. Where Jewish people are oppressed. Other groups such as immigrants as well. We must never return to those times in our history or look upon them with pride. The monuments belong in museums and cemeteries to learn from and avoid making those mistakes again. Not to forget about or destroy them. Forgetting is what too many have done. Those who would seek to bring back remnants of this evil past count upon our forgetfulness. Because then they can influence the young and impressionable with revisionist history. Bringing them through falsehoods into their deplorable organizations.

We as citizens have a right to know who these people are. What members of the alt right are in our communities. Are they running for office using dog whistle racism, winning then initiating racist policies like Muslim bans? Are they forming commissions and lying about the existence of voter fraud to limit minority voting? There are numerous ways they hide in the places tolerant citizens live and impose their beliefs on others with policies that reflect those views. Too often we who do not share their beliefs tolerate them so as not to appear intolerant ourselves. But that time is over.

We must all stand up and oppose these radical views. We must not allow them to intimidate us. To make us fear as there was once fear in the US. We must not go backwards. We must expose these people for who they are and where they live. That is what we intend to do. To expose every last one of them we can locate. They will be posted here and in other places as well.

If the blog goes down we will put one back up. If we are threatened we will persevere and continue none the less. We will not back down nor be cowed by white supremacist filth. So if that is who you are, who you identify with, or what you call yourself be prepared to be posted.
