Once again today we are going to address a NRA News video posted by Colion Noir AKA Collins Idehen Jr. The subject of our commentary today is a video entitled 'American Elites'.
He wants us to believe that no news commentator, no celebrity and no politician (those that disagree with him) know what they are talking about. But what he doesn't seem to comprehend is that guns and knowledge concerning guns isn't the whole issue involving gun violence and its solutions. Just because you know about different types of rifles, magazines, ammunition, doesn't mean they understand gun violence per se. Its affects on society, different demographics, children and so forth. How poverty, domestic abuse issues, escalate its occurrence.
In fact, this video sounds like a rehash of some of the others. As always he blames the media, celebrities and politicans that support gun safety for trying to "force feed us gun control". But I see no such insinuation from him when celebrities associated with the NRA such as Ted Nugent are trying to do the same. Which is quite frequently. Or when conservative TV, radio, etc tries to do just that as well. The only supposed 'elites' are on the gun safety side never the other. Which is profoundly hypocritical and preposterous.
It is also patently false that the media did not cover the Atlanta school shooting where the shooter was disarmed by a security guard. Type in the Google search engine 'Atlanta school shooting' and numerous stories including television sources come up.
The deadliest school shooting in American history however at Columbine was not stopped by armed guards. The idea that every shooting could be stopped in this manner is false. Or that it is the solution to school violence is debatable.

Noir/Idehen's other statements such as that no one should decide what type of gun, ammo etc a person should use are also meritless. We decide as a society what people can and can not use every day in a myriad of situations. As an example you might think lead paint lasts longer than other paints, but it is not used any longer. Because it is unsafe for children in particular. So if a certain weapon/ammunition is harmful to society as lead paint is, why should the government not have an interest in regulating it?
His last statement that a person is all alone with their gun needed to defend themselves because that is how society is, sounds just like Wayne Lapierre. Wayne LaPierre the alarmist extraordinaire of extremism. That armed gangs are after you. That looters roamed wild after Hurricane Sandy. None of which is true of course. Most of us believe in an orderly society. That a gun is not necessary. When one is in trouble the police are the avenue to utilize. Guns are not the salvation of America. They are not something every citizen has to own.
In fact there is an underlying belief here that is not mentioned frequently. That the pro-gunnies believe violence is the answer to violence. They seem to portray that every American should believe and do as they do. Which of course is not the case. The state and federal government however have a special interest in alleviating violence. A duty and responsibility to protect those they are supposed to serve. With laws when necessary and needful.
So Noir/Idehen once again makes no points which are significant in any nature. Just another video to attempt to please his supporters. But with no true meaning in reality.
I am going to once again post a video which shows how pro gun rights individuals behave. They would like to say gun safety advocates act in that manner but the truth is the opposite. The following is from a rally sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns in NH. A father who lost his daughter to gun violence is heckled by gun rights supporters.
This second one shows that the behavior in the above video is not isolated. If anyone believes having the Constitution chanted at you while you are expressing your grief then you are mistaken.
